Skip silence, loop a section, and jump between marks
Most of a meeting recording is not speech. These three controls are how you spend your time on the part that is.
Skip silence
Turn it on in the player and playback jumps over the pauses. On a meeting with long gaps it saves 10–20% on top of whatever speed you have set; on continuous speech it changes almost nothing. It only affects playback — the recording keeps its pauses.
Loop
- Turn looping on and the recording repeats instead of stopping.
- Useful for a phrase in a language you are learning, or a bar of music you are working out.
- Combine it with 0.5× to slow a difficult passage down.
- Leave it off for reviewing a meeting, or you will hear the opening twice.
Jump between marks
- Open a recording that has marks — the ticks along the waveform.
- Tap a mark to jump straight to that second.
- Read its note, if you added one, to remember why you flagged it.
- Work through a long meeting mark by mark instead of scrubbing.

- Do these settings stick?
- Yes. Speed, volume boost, looping and silence skipping are remembered for the next recording you play.
- Does skip silence cut off the start of words?
- No. It passes over the gaps between speech rather than editing anything, so the words themselves are whole.
- Can I add a mark while listening?
- Marks are dropped while recording. When reviewing, use the transcript to find a passage and the scrubber to sit on it.
