Change the app's language
Two different language settings do two different jobs: one changes the words in the app, the other tells speech recognition what it is listening to.
Change the interface language
- Open Settings from the app and tap App language under General.
- Or open the iOS Settings app, tap Apps, then Voice Recorder, then Language.
- Choose English or Tiếng Việt.
- The app switches immediately.
Change the transcription language
This one is in the app's own Settings, under Transcription. Set it to the language actually being spoken in the recording — it is independent of the interface language, so you can read an English interface and transcribe Vietnamese.
If the Language option is missing
iOS only shows a per-app Language option once you have more than one language under Settings › General › Language & Region. Add a second preferred language there and it appears.
FAQ
- Which languages does the interface support?
- English and Vietnamese. An untranslated string falls back to English rather than showing a placeholder.
- Which languages can it transcribe?
- Whatever your iPhone's speech recognition supports — dozens, including English and Vietnamese. The list is in Settings › Transcription language.
- Does changing the language affect my recordings?
- No. Names, tags, marks and transcripts are your text and are left exactly as they are.
