Change your voice in a recording

The voice changer re-renders a recording through a pitch shift and, where it helps, a little distortion or reverb. It is the same engine that does trimming and noise reduction, so the result is a real audio file you can share anywhere.

Change a voice

1. Open the recording in the player.
2. Tap Voice changer in the tool row.
3. Pick a voice and press play to hear it before you commit.
4. Try a few — they sound very different on different voices.
5. Save as a copy so the original stays as it was.

The twelve voices

• Free: Original, Child and Man.
• Higher: Girl, Child, Squirrel — pitched up, the squirrel also sped up.
• Lower: Man, Tenor singer — the tenor with a cathedral reverb behind it.
• Character: Alien, Robot, Monster — pitch plus distortion and hall reverb.
• Odd: Drunk, Nervous, Megaphone.

Getting a good result

• Start from a clean recording. Effects exaggerate room noise as much as they do a voice.
• Trim first — you are rendering the whole file, so there is no point rendering the silence.
• Big pitch shifts sound better on short clips than on a long monologue.
• Keep the original. The effect cannot be taken back off.
