How to merge audio files on your iPhone
Recordings end up in pieces for good reasons: a break, a call, a battery. Merging puts them back into one file that plays, shares and transcribes as a single thing.
Merge recordings
- Open the recordings list and switch on selection.
- Tick the recordings you want to join — at least two.
- Tap Merge in the action bar at the bottom.
- Put them in the order you want; the list plays top to bottom.
- Confirm, name the result, and save. The originals stay where they are.
What to expect
- Files of different formats and sample rates can be merged — everything is rendered to one consistent output.
- The result is a new recording; nothing you merged is changed or deleted.
- Length adds up, and so does size. Two 40 MB files make one 80 MB file.
- Merge is a PRO feature.
Before you merge
Trim each part first. Merging four takes that each start with ten seconds of fumbling gives you one file with four awkward gaps in it — and once merged, each of those is a separate cut to make.

- Can I merge an imported file with a recording?
- Yes. Anything in your library can be merged, whether you recorded it or imported it.
- Is there a limit on how many I can join?
- No fixed limit. The check that matters is free space: the app confirms the output fits before it starts.
- Can I add silence between the parts?
- No — the parts are joined end to end. If you want a gap, that is what the pause at the end of each part gives you, so trim with that in mind.
