Edit and export a transcript as a text file
A transcript is more useful once you have fixed the names, and more useful again once it is out of the app and in whatever you actually write in.
Fix it first
- Open the recording and tap Transcribe to open its text.
- Edit straight into the transcript — names, jargon, numbers.
- Play the audio alongside it for anything you cannot read.
- The edited version is what gets searched and exported from then on.
Export it
- With the transcript open, choose to export or share it.
- A .txt file is created with the recording's name.
- Send it to Files, Notes, Mail, or any app in the share sheet.
- The audio stays in the app — you are sharing the text only.
What to do with it
- Paste a meeting transcript into your notes app and keep only the decisions.
- Search a semester of lecture transcripts in one place on a computer.
- Quote an interview accurately without replaying it.
- Keep the transcript and delete the audio when storage is tight — text is a few kilobytes.

- Are timestamps included?
- The export is plain text. Use marks in the recording for the moments you need to jump back to.
- Can I export several transcripts at once?
- Export them one at a time, from each recording's transcript.
- Is the transcript in my backups?
- Yes. It is stored with the recording in the app's folder, which is included in device and iCloud backups.
