Find a recording by searching its transcript
This is where transcribing pays off. Search looks at titles and at transcript text, which means you can find a recording by something that was said in it rather than by what you called it.
Search
- Open the recordings list.
- Type into the search field at the top.
- Results narrow as you type, matching both names and transcript text.
- Combine it with a tag to search inside one project.
Making your library searchable
- Transcribe the recordings that matter. An untranscribed recording can only be found by its name.
- Fix names and jargon in a transcript — those are exactly the words you will search for later.
- Name recordings with the word you would type to find them.
- Tag by project so you can narrow before you search.
Sorting when you don't know the word
Sort by date to find something from a particular week, by length to find the long meeting among the voice notes, or by size when you are looking for what to delete. The sort control is at the top of the list, next to search.

- Does search look inside audio that has no transcript?
- No. Audio is not searchable; the transcript is what makes the words findable.
- Does it search mark notes?
- Search covers titles and transcripts. Marks are how you navigate inside a recording once you have opened it.
- Is anything sent anywhere when I search?
- No. Search runs entirely on your iPhone.
