Organize your recordings with tags
Fifty recordings called New Recording 37 are a list you never look at again. Two habits fix that: a name you chose, and a tag that puts it in a folder.
Tag a recording
- Open the recordings list.
- Open the tag manager from the toolbar to create a tag — a project, a course, a client.
- Assign a tag to a recording from its row or from the player.
- Tap a tag at the top of the list to see only its recordings.
Naming that still works in a year
- Name for what you will search, not what it is: Budget meeting, not Meeting 4.
- The date is already stored and shown, so leave it out of the name.
- Put the distinctive word first — long names truncate in the list.
- Set a default pattern in Settings › Recording › Default title if you would rather not type each time, and turn Ask before saving off to skip the sheet entirely.
A tag scheme worth copying
- One tag per course, project or client — not per topic.
- Keep the total under a dozen; a long tag list is as hard to scan as an untagged one.
- Tag as you save. Going back over a hundred untagged recordings never happens.
- Untagged is fine for throwaway notes you will delete this week.
FAQ
- Can a recording have more than one tag?
- Each recording carries one tag, which keeps the list unambiguous — a recording is in exactly one folder.
- What happens when I delete a tag?
- The recordings stay; they simply become untagged.
- Can I sort the list another way?
- Yes — sort by date, name, length or size from the sort control at the top of the list.
