Recover a recording that was interrupted

A recording that never reached the save sheet is still on disk. The app writes a marker before it captures a single frame and updates it as you drop marks, so an interrupted take can be put back together at the next launch.

What happens next time you open the app

1. Open Voice Recorder as usual.
2. The take is adopted into your library automatically, with its mode, its marks and its quality intact.
3. A message tells you what it was saved as — it is at the top of the list, dated when it was recorded.
4. Rename it and tag it as you would any other recording.

What can still be lost

• The last few seconds before power was cut — audio is written continuously, but a frame that never reached disk is gone.
• A name you never got to type. The take keeps the automatic title.
• Nothing else. Marks, mode and format all come back.

Avoiding it next time

• Leave a few gigabytes free before a long session; the app refuses to start below 150 MB and stops itself below 60 MB.
• Plug in for anything over an hour.
• Set Settings › Recording › Maximum duration if you tend to forget a take is running.
• Turn Keep screen on off — it is the single biggest drain during a long recording.
